Back to Projects Dublin Dental Hospital

Dublin Dental Hospital, contains the School of Dental Science, one of the constituents of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Dublin, Trinity College. It currently serves 2,500 patients per week and trains 265 students. The completed building provides a total area of 5,800m² including 3,500m² of new building and 2,300m² of existing, which has been totally refurbished and integrated with the new complex.

The design provides a day-lit modern clinical environment while maintaining the existing historic presence of the Dental Hospital on Lincoln Place. The existing and new buildings are linked by an atrium, which forms the primary circulation zone and creates a unified complex for the hospital. A new main entrance is created within the existing facade. Most clinical departments are located in the new building while teaching and ancillary accommodation is located within the refurbished old buildings.
