Civic Offices County Offaly
The new civic offices for County Offaly are located in a mature suburb on the edge of the town of Tullamore.
The project accommodation consists of 5,200m² of office, crèche, laboratory, cafeteria and council chamber. The project addresses the client’s conflicting requirements for a building which fits discretely into its suburban context while still maintaining a strong civic presence.
A new paved civic court is formed, defined by the Council Chamber, while the main office accommodation is housed within a timber-clad volume set amongst existing trees A timber lattice forms a protective veil, shading the interior from the sun and controlling the extent of overlooking into neighbouring properties.
